Matoi the Sacred Slayer

Matoi the Sacred Slayer was better than I had expected from a moe anime. The highlights of the show are definitely the art and humor, but the story is not bad either. Matoi was quite stereotypical in her characterization with her driving motivation being her wish to live a normal life. She is however very mature for her age, and is understanding toward’s Shingo attempts to be a fatherly figure. She doesn’t blame him or her mother (by the time they start talking about her at least) despite their absences.

Mob Psycho 100 III 1

Mob Psycho is back and its starting off with some hard questions. I only realized it after seeing the episode was out and had to refresh myself on what had happened before. Faced with the question of what his aspirations for the future are, Mob is unable to come up with a satisfactory answer. Asking around, he finds that somehow everyone around him seems to have some idea of where they see themselves in the future.

Of course her heart is going to give out. Has it been two months already or has she just been running around alot? Mashima is so unpredictable. Perhaps that’s why he’s so dangerous. I do agree that there’s no absolute good or evil but Majima’s actions are clearly more than a step too far. Holy Mika is strong. Honestly I’m not sure if this show is trying to be serious or not.

Lycoris Recoil 12

The fight with Mashima was so quick it ended before the OP. Chisato used the sound of the gun to flashbang his ears basically. It’s kinda odd that he’s okay with firing guns without ear protection. Their eyes while lying on the floor were just dots. Actually there were more scenes like that. Oh no Yoshi is the real big bad. Not surprising and makes a lot more sense than him having a change of heart but its still a little disappointing.

Lycoris Recoil 11

They really did have another artificial heart prepared, which makes sense because breaking her old one wouldn’t make sense otherwise. Everyone in LycoReco except Chisato has their eyes on it. Wouldn’t they still need a surgeon to install it though. From the flashbacks it seems that Yoshi was the one who did the surgery the last time so it seems like in the end its up to him. The tower was one big trap designed to show the public the means the Lycoris will take.

Lycoris Recoil 10

Starting with sending Takina back to the DA, Chisato continues to try to distance herself from everybody, hoping they will continue living their lives as per normal. Takina clearly has other plans and I believe Kurumi and Mizuki are probably planning something as well. The rest of the cafe patrons remind Chisato of all the lives she’s impacted and those who would be sad over her death. Hopefully this also pushes her to find a way to continue living that does not compromise on her beliefs.

Lycoris Recoil 9

It looks like her heart wasn’t some emotional control unit or anything. I suppose this development makes a lot more sense that them being able to rewrite her emotions or something. I’m guessing their holding her life hostage. Something along the lines of, fulfil or destiny or die. Knowing Chisato, she’ll probably choose to just let herself pass away rather than taking the lives of others. I wonder what she meant when she said she didn’t have long in the first place anyway.

Subnautica Below Zero

I’d rate Below Zero a 6/10. It was an okay game in the sense that the story and game loop is engaging enough to get you to the end, but it wasn’t quite worth it. Gameplay To start off, I actually started with the switch version. However, cracking open mineral deposits and catching fish was a terrible match for a controller. The worst offender though were the random crashes and lack of auto-saves forcing me to replay hours of content until I got fed up and gave up.

Redline

I decided to watch this on a whim upon seeing the chadalong watchalong and was it a good decision. Redline was one and a half hours of good fun I am glad to have watched. The overall story was pretty standard if you’ve watched similarly themed anime which I’m not going to name in case of spoilers for the other titles, but the moment to moment action and happenings are anything but.

Lycoris Recoil 8

I suppose it was quite obvious even before, but the cold open was quite heavy handed in telling us that the Alan Institute believes that those gifted have a certain role to perform and have no choice in the matter. Thusly lies Yoshi’s motivation in trying to push Chisato back to killing. How specific are the roles though, do they need to accomplish a certain task or do they just need to act in a way befitting the talents they posses?
