A little encouragement can go a long way. Komichi might be the main character, but her classmates are just as important. They each have their own personalities and wants, and often Komichi’s role is just to be there and give them a little encouragement. At the end of the day, they are the ones who put in the effort to improve or fight for what they want.
Akebi’s Sailor Uniform is very beautifully written. I love its episodic format, which each bit of characterization coming back later. Everything that is shown is there for a reason, and the small build ups make the climaxes so impactful.
The art is also really beautiful. The show is full of shots which stand out from the style used for most scenes, which are often more detailed and give off a dreamlike feel. In fact, it was the art and certain scenes which made me curious about it in the first place. Combined with the plot and positive vibes, I couldn’t stop watching till the end.
