I suppose it was quite obvious even before, but the cold open was quite heavy handed in telling us that the Alan Institute believes that those gifted have a certain role to perform and have no choice in the matter. Thusly lies Yoshi’s motivation in trying to push Chisato back to killing. How specific are the roles though, do they need to accomplish a certain task or do they just need to act in a way befitting the talents they posses? Yoshi seems to have his secretary acting as such for his convenience more so than whatever talent she posses which is kinda contradictory to their beliefs. If they have some task to accomplish, but fail to do so for whatever reason (premature death for example), what does that say of the Alan Institute’s philosophy? Does it just mean they chose the wrong person? Or does it undermine their identity by implying that people do not posses some form of god-given purpose?
The comedy skit about LycoReco being in the red is pretty funny but worrying about costs in a life or death situation seems pretty dangerous. Her poop cake really took off huh, cost wise I don’t see how it could be better than Chisato’s which kicked off the budgeting.
Oh he was just some lacky back during the radio tower incident, I guess that’s why he wasn’t considered a big threat. It would appear that Chisato was still as amazing and valued life back then, although she had cold expression.
Mashima’s visit was unexpected, given that the foreshadowed danger was the lady from the Alan Institute. Also seems like he didn’t have any hostile intent, or even if he did it was just because he wanted to kill someone interesting rather than wanting to get rid of Chisato… If anything his appearance was a positive one, alerting LycoReco to the dangers surrounding Chisato and also shedding light that the Alan Institute supports terrorists as well.
The lady was so patient, waiting so many days of Chisato refusing to turn up. Seems like her talent is some from of medical skills? Or maybe its just being a general spy kind of agent. I predict that the heart somehow controls Chisato’s emotions and will make her fight with Takina which is definitely poetic, whether or not it makes sense. Also Takina to the rescue, she really is MVP, protecting Chisato’s important place and acting as her knight in shining armour.
