It looks like her heart wasn’t some emotional control unit or anything. I suppose this development makes a lot more sense that them being able to rewrite her emotions or something. I’m guessing their holding her life hostage. Something along the lines of, fulfil or destiny or die. Knowing Chisato, she’ll probably choose to just let herself pass away rather than taking the lives of others. I wonder what she meant when she said she didn’t have long in the first place anyway. I guess the heart was also just a stopgap measure in the first place?
The relationship between Takina and Chisato in a really werid spot now. Which is understandable considering the weight of the revealation. On one hand I’m sure she feels betrayed and upset that Chisato was hiding something huge like that from her. And also that she seems unfazed by her upcoming death. At the same time she still loves Chisato and is being overly considerate towards her. The rain was a nice touch to show the trouble and sadness this new development has brought.
I guess there was nothing supernatural or unbelievable about her change in emotional state. Chisato was just expressionless because she knew she was going to die soon. The reason she was okay with the new deadline to her life is that she had already been prepared to die once 10 years ago. That being said no matter how satisfied she is on the way she chose to live her life, there’s no way she doesn’t feel sad that she’s going to have to say goodbye to everybody. This melancholy was probably what the earlier scene of Chisato in the rain was for too. So much drama between Mika and Yoshi. Looks like Mika used to treat Chisato as expendable just like the rest of the Lycoris, expected to die by 18. That in itself is really dark which kinda reminds me of the premise of the show. Shows even more about Takina’s development that she was able to break out of the brainwashing to overcome the common sense that that is their role as Lycoris.
Anyway, if the heart was predicted to only last till she was around 18 and she got it 10 years ago when she was 8, what was the point of shutting down the charging function? Just to act as a reminder that she only had so long to live? Or is it some roundabout way of offering her a newer model?
Takina is so cute. She’s definitely had a lot of character development. From DA being her reason for living to not wanting to accept an offer to return because she wants to spend the time Chisato has left together with her. She’s even taken on Chisato’s quirks and prepared a printed date plan and everything. She still retains her own quirks of being overly serious, wearing an out of season outfit because she had no other clothes and following the schedule to a T, cutting activities off at the worst possible moment. Unfortunately, life often doesn’t go according to plan and we get more insight into Chisato’s beliefs and perhaps why she is okay with dying. However in the end it starts to snow as they were hoping for. Perhaps this is hinting that there is some hope yet.
A side note, the mall they went to was a nice looking place and the winter atmosphere was also quite pretty. Looks like its probably based upon a real location. Wonder where it is.
Oh my are these the consequences of Yoshi-san’s actions? There’s no way any good could have come out of helping terrorists. Though I have a feeling that it was all part of his grand plan. Even if not I doubt he will change his convictions.
